Hello and welcome to the 21st KS2 Blog.

We started our Summer Term with an awesome assembly by the staff at Harbour Challenge.

This charity is based at Hamworthy Beach Park and they have been spending some money to bring their facilities and equipment up to match the standard of their setting; it is a stunning location!

Just before the Easter break, myself and Miss Hardwick visited the centre and were given a guided tour of all the facilities and equipment.  The boards, sails, bikes, boats and kayaks are all really modern and are designed with children in mind.  As well as this, the instructors had exactly what we were looking for; a real desire to get children out and “doing” for the whole session.  Unfortunately, this is not the case with all providers…

Overall, the P.E. faculty were really impressed with what we saw and so we are looking forward to taking some Saint Mary’s pupils to Hamworthy for water sports sessions after the May half term.  It’s almost certain that these sessions will be oversubscribed so:

a)  Contact the centre via their website to find out more about their excellent value holiday activities.

b) Keep an eye on the KS2 Blog to find out what unusual and interesting sports might be coming here to us at school (via Harbour challenge) soon.

One last thing, the staff from the centre mentioned that they are very keen to have whole families on the water!!  So, parents and carers, into the neoprene and keep your fingers crossed for a baking summer!!
